* It is very important to understand thatemotional intelligence is not the opposite of intelligence , it is not the triumph of heart over head, it is the unique intersection of both.
* Emotional intelligence is a way of recognizing, understanding, and choosing how we think, feeland act. It shapes our interactions with others and understanding of ourselves. It defines how and what we learn, it allows us to set priorities, it determines the majority of our daily actions.
* Emotional intelligence is the subject of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one's own and others feelings and emotions to descriminate among them and to use this information to guide one's thinking and actions.
* Emotional intelligence represents an ability to validly reason with emotion and to use emotions to enhance thought.
If we summarize the emotional intelligence, the term encompasses the following five characterstics and abilities .
!. SELF AWARENESS-- Knowing your emotions, recognizing feeling as they occur, and discriminating between them.
2. MOOD MANAGEMENT-- Handling feeling so they are relevant to the current situation and you react appropriately.
3. SELF-MOTIVATION-- "Gathering up" your feeling and directing yourself towards a goal despite self-doubt, and impulsiveness.
4. EMPATHY-- Recognizing feelings in others and tuning into their verbal and non-verbal cues.
5. MANAGING RELATIONSHIP-- Handling interpersonal interaction, conflict resolution and negotions.
